Puppy Training in Orange County
Start your puppy with the right foundation. Our structured Day Train program builds the skills and habits your puppy needs for a lifetime of good behavior.
The First Year Matters Most
Puppies are learning machines. Between 8 weeks and 6 months, your puppy's brain is primed to absorb new experiences and form lasting habits — good or bad.
The behaviors you allow or encourage during this window become the defaults your dog carries into adulthood. Jump on people as a puppy? They'll jump as an adult. Pull on leash? That becomes their normal.
Starting training early doesn't mean harsh corrections — it means building the right foundation before bad habits form.

What Your Puppy Will Learn
Foundation Skills
Sit, down, stay, come, and loose-leash walking built from the start.
Socialization
Controlled exposure to other dogs, people, and environments.
Impulse Control
Teaching patience, focus, and calm behavior around distractions.
Bite Inhibition
Proper redirection of puppy mouthing and nipping behavior.
The Ideal Age for Puppy Training
We accept puppies starting at 12 weeks old, once they've completed their initial vaccinations. Here's what each stage looks like:
- 12-16 weeks: Foundation socialization and basic commands
- 4-6 months: Building duration and introducing distractions
- 6-12 months: Adolescent reinforcement and advanced skills
Don't worry if your puppy is older — we work with puppies and adolescent dogs up to 18 months. The key is starting before problem behaviors become ingrained.

Puppy Training FAQs
What age should I start training my puppy?
We accept puppies starting at 12 weeks old, once they've completed their initial vaccination series. The earlier you start, the better, as puppies between 8 weeks and 6 months are in their critical socialization period when habits form fastest.
Is the Day Train program too intense for a young puppy?
Not at all. We adjust the training intensity and duration based on your puppy's age and energy level. Younger puppies get more rest breaks and shorter training sessions, while older puppies can handle more structured work.
Will my puppy be around other dogs during training?
Yes, but in a controlled way. Exposure to other dogs is part of proper socialization, but we never overwhelm puppies with too much too soon. Jake manages all interactions to ensure positive experiences.
What if my puppy is too young for the full program?
If your puppy is under 12 weeks, we recommend scheduling a free evaluation so we can assess their readiness and give you guidance on what to work on at home until they're old enough to start.
